ABOUT LOUISIANA CULTURAL VISTAS

The staff, supporters and partner organizations of Louisiana Cultural Vistas strive to create a publication that promotes the understanding and appreciation of Louisiana’s unique cultural heritage while serving the needs and interests of our readers.

Since 1990, Louisiana Cultural Vistas (LCV) magazine has documented the state’s arts, culture, history, and literature. Every issue features the work of scholars, photographers, artists, and writers who reflect our distinctive history and diverse population. In addition to publishing the work of contributors including Ernest Gaines, Richard Ford, Anne Rice, Wynton Marsalis, and Lee Friedlander, Louisiana Cultural Vistas has served as an information clearinghouse by publicizing museum exhibitions, excerpting newly released scholarly books, and showcasing the work of new and established photographers and artists. With a print and digital readership exceeding 20,000, Louisiana Cultural Vistas is a lasting way for the LEH to promote and explore the state’s resilient culture and fascinating history. Louisiana Cultural Vistas is a project of the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities (LEH), the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). Since the magazine’s inception, more than 9,000 pages of content have been printed in nearly 100 editions. Support from subscribers, donors, and state and federal government make this possible. The LEH is a Louisiana nonprofit organization dedicated to providing all Louisianans with access to and an appreciation of their own rich and diverse cultural heritage through grant-supported outreach programs, family literacy and adult reading initiatives, teacher professional development institutes, publications, film and radio documentaries, museum exhibitions, cultural tourism, lectures, library projects, and other public humanities programming. Louisiana Cultural Vistas has earned 134 Press Club of New Orleans awards for excellence, including Best Publication five times.
